You think you are Special?

"you think you are Special?" hand lettering in color

Although this might come off as “so you think you’re something, huh?” it actually is not. It’s merely a poking question where I am intentionally asking if you think you are special.

I always thought anyone is special, in their own way.

I mean, someone may have talent in music, some in painting, some in maths, and some in people skills. Some even may not know it until they are grown up, but one must never lose faith and hope in means of discovering their own spark.

I studied Advertising and PR in university, but I always dreamed of designing and drawing and creating stuff. Whether you are a curator or a collaborator or the artist himself, It’s so important to “create” something in a world where nearly all people consume and drain all resources.

Not that I don’t do it from time to time 🙂

Anyway, this piece goes for everyone who may or may not think they are special, because I know you are!

happy weeks! xx

Art! Do you think this one is?

"Art is what you can get away with" lettering in pink, yellow, purple and red, on pink cotton t-shirt

A famous quotation by Andy Warhol, “the pop art king” per se, contributed in numerous speculations about contemporary art, classic art and a little bit of mockery about “naked men sitting on rocks”. For me, Art has no rules, what pleases the eye, is worthy of display and/or usage.

Some die hard scholars might disagree, that the classic form of effort bearing art with golden rules and whatnot deserves all the credit, while a mere soup can is unworthy of any attention.

But Typography and lettering came a looooong way from what they have been, too.

So has illustration and digitally altered imagery. They used to be all rules and they got evaluated as “good” and “bad” but now, universally, most types of “art” is appreciated. Even to the point where uneven, unclassified, material-free installations are applauded by art experts.

I, myself consider this t-shirt a work of art! What do you think, does it aesthetically please you?

Here are more “Art” for you to have a wonderful week!

I’d love your feedback.

and this.

Cheers!

Hands up in the air, People who don’t Work!

A job you love=never working another day
caption in color ink

There is a famous Turkish actor that once in an interview said, “I have never worked a day in my life.”
He  enjoys what he does and it obviously shows as he is very good at what he does.

I also always hear my father saying “I am having fun. What is this, work? We don’t work, we live, we enjoy what we do and make a living out of it.”

I must state that although he is an architect and the most artsy person I know, he “works” very hard. He is always on the run, always productive and creative. If that doesn’t teach me the key of life, I don’t know what will.

🙂

Being blown away with the invention I just had; I doodled something at the office, only to realize, this *thing* I love passionately should give me the life I deserve!

So here you go; the text should tell it all.

Anyway, though, I am still very young and working at a design office *as well as* making free lance work is not tiring me at all ! Not yet anyways, but I would definitely want to resign. Making everyone so happy with my t-shirts so that I am very happy with my creations and earnings! That’s the goal 🙂

Have a super nice week, everyone!

Bang bang!

For those of you who are as keen on classic songs as me, this print goes for them.

I used to love the soft voice Nancy Sinatra, but I do appreciate the lyrics, so every cover is fine for me ! The original of the song is by Cher, written by Sonny Bono and released in 1966.

You can listen to this beautiful song here.

Although it is a sad song, it bears some kind of romance and beauty. Anyways, I like the lyrics, a lot, and due to the fact that I illustrate quotes I find meaningful, this fits perfectly.

Have a nice week everyone and enjoy!!

For those of you who can’t survive without Coffee.

I used to drink a lot of coffee when I was in college, but now I am trying to cut back a little. I’m also a big fan of tea- any kind; green, black, herbal- so it is not a big problem when I cut on coffee, as I have an alternative to abuse .:)

But I know a lot of people who can’t face the day of light without a grande americano, including my mom! She makes a huge pot every morning, believe me, even the smell of it is enough to wake me up!

My coffee habits are  now limited to some caramel macchiato every two or three days, in the afternoon, when I am in the mood for some chilling.

What are your coffee habits? Are you a coffee person? I’d love your feedback,

Cheers!

Live, love, laugh… Cut out t-shirt.

"live, love, laugh" writing in brown and red with metallic linings painted on white cotton fabric

Normally I don’t alter the t-shirts I am working with. I mean, I don’t style them with additional fabric, or anything that involves recreating the tshirt. I am only interested in the design *on* the t-shirt, so…

Well, this time I had the urge to cut open the front in heart shape and put a lighter color fabric to be painted on later on.

So this turned out the way it is, and the the orderer loved it!!

I hope you enjoy it, too !

Owl is funny… So is my sketch.

Ok, remember the time where I had an epic fail trying to draw neat lines with a marker -without a pencil outline-and that “sketch” turned into a marker drawing?

This is the very place where I had a relatively post success regarding the creation of this cute little bastard.

Enjoy!

I personally find this “Week” very happy and energizing! I quoted week, because it is too early to evaluate since it’s only monday!!

Even though I am pretty busy at work and my best couple friends are getting married this weekend, and I am the maid of honor (which means a huugue load more work!) I feel euphoric 🙂

Hope everyone has had a nice start off to the week.

Cheers!-
