It’s almost Easter !

Easter Eggs painted

Ok, Everyone LOVES the holiday season! Somebody saying they don’t love holidays is just lying. No matter how long the holiday is, or what are we celebrating, it is always a good cause to spend some quality time relaxing and dining with family and friends.

I am not a christian, but I have A LOT of friends who are, and we always had a blast getting to celebrate triple holidays. CELEBRATE ALL THE HOLIDAYS!

Of course, as in everything, my researcher self came out in this one as well, and I looked up the mythology and history of easter. In the jeopardy of contrasting myself above, holidays are a pinch important relying on their meaning and histories, as well.

Turns out, the tradition of giving out colored eggs in Easter goes back to Anglo-saxon mythology. The Saxon goddess Eostre found a wounded bird and transformed it into a hare, so that it could survive the winter. The hare found out that it could lay eggs, so it decorated these eggs every spring to give to the goddess as a gratitude offering.

The more recent fact is that Eggs are forbidden during Lent, and when the holidays come over, it’s like a treat we have been keeping ourselves from for so long.

Intresting, i find !

The original eggs first given on easter were birds’ eggs, than today we customized this to hard boiled chicken eggs.

Then in 20th century, as chocolate became more widespread, the candy companies took this marketing advantage and started making chocolate eggs as an easter gift.

As a designer, I can say that this specific “canvas” has lot of room for creativity and versatility!

I just love the way they look šŸ™‚

Meanwhile, enjoy more eggs!

I wish everyone a happy holiday and hope you get to spend it the way you expect !

If You Are Stressed, Turn it Around, You Have a Cupcake!

lettering -ink on paper

We have a common notion, us humans. Whenever we are stressed, we get more and more and more stressed ! Then we can’t solve problems *because* we are stressed, we get even more frustrated because we can’t solve a problem. It is all a chain reaction with stress.

But I believe (and it is encouraged) to stop for a second, hit the pause and *then* analyze the situation. Most the time it isn’t half as bad, besides, when you take time to observe the ongoing situation, you have a clearer view and more peaceful mind to deal with the issue.

Of course, same with everything, practice and persistence makes perfect.

“It isn’t so easy!!” you may yell over there, hey, no one said anyone gets off without practicing.

But let me put your mind at ease, it ain’t so hard, either.

Everytime you are “stressed”, try to flip the words, you get a sweet sweet “desserts” ! šŸ™‚

That being a metaphor, my point is, life is in perfect harmony, every single being, occasion, place has its perfect balance of good and evil. The choice is ours to make. One can look at an issue and see it as complete disaster, while another person could see the opportunity and blessing at the exact same subject.

Try, you’ll see, it works wonders!

Good day to you all:)

Oh, and don’t forget to wear it around, maybe it’ll get easer to see things sweeter.. šŸ™‚

Play Outdoors!

Image

Probably one of the things I feel sad about kids today is, that they don’t get to enjoy outdoors any more. I mean, even if they *tried* to enjoy, there aren’t enough spaces like grass and play grounds. Not in cosmopolite cities anyway.

I’m not saying that computers and video games are *totally* bad ( heck, I even learned English playing video games!) but they absolutely don’t compare to outdoor activities.

A child’s mood, inner peace and connection with other beings in the world are directly related with spending time in the nature, interacting with animals and plants. At least I firmly believe so. And when I have a kid, I will make sure she/he spends plenty of time playing outdoors.

I didn’t mean it to be a promotional campaign kinda t-shirt, but I do enjoy the message it is giving!

Here is the shirt version of it, I liked how the colors turned out.

Do yourself a favor, and try to save sometime to walk, have a tea outside, or just play with your pet.

Connect with the world you live in !

I love shirts with writings!

ImageIĀ

I really do.Ā

I was working on an order, but having a “designer’s block” (hah! I laugh at myself as I write this, but hey) so I decided to do some rough drafts. I had a long tunic tshirt laying around, kinda like loungewear, you know. I don’t really wear it to sleep, but I don’t wear it outside either. (well, save for running errands maybe)Ā

After I unnecessarily elaborate the piece of fabric to you guys, I drew my design on! This is a permanent textile marker, not the 3D velvety paints I usually use. I don’t like to spend those precious paint on rough drafts, but I don’t like the look of textile marker very much either. But this one turned out pretty good. Maybe it’s the color of the marker, the texture of the shirt, or the stars were aligned, who knows?

Anyhow, here you go!

Love,Ā

More owlsomeness!

Image

I might actually consider making an “owlsome” range out of my tshirts, as I get waaaay ahead of myself trying to find new designs. I end up with making various creations of the owlsome troop, that, actually turns out more creative than any one of them.Ā

I sound pathetic wow! No, no, I do and can always come up with new designs, it’s just, I love the Owls so much, I had to legitimize my unconditional love towards them:)Ā

enjoy!!

Keep Calm, Equin-co designs are here ..

Image

An acquaintance ordered a “Keep Calm and blablabla…” tshirt. Well, we all know the hype in those and I should say I did dig some of them too.

But when it came to making something that someone out there already made, I was hesitant. Still, though, should I come up with the *idea* besides the design -lettering and illustration- and the application? In some cases, yes, I do. But every now and then, I take a popular and/or retro idea and add a twist to it, so it ends up being perfectly personal.

With this one, I thought, “Ok, I make tshirts, I might as well put a saying to this!” so that’s how I came up with that. She loved it, thankfully, which puts a smile on my face as well.

Going over board with creativity!

Image

Whenever I make tshirts (or have an idea for a tshirt) I usually go for simple, clean cut, to the point designs. *Insert HUUUGE liar pinocchio nose*

No, but really šŸ™‚ Although I *usually* go for refined, I have the tendency to appreciate the beauty of eclectic sometimes. The shirt above is no exception. I absolutely love typography, even more when the words are the perfect description! So why settle for one?:)

The key for mixing it up, though, is somehow try to keep a common ground, like letters, or only metallic, or objects that relate to a similar category. They *have* to meet somewhere! So that the whole design doesn’t end up looking like a mess.

I love the cut and the texture of this particular one here, the lettering only made it more awesome, i think :/
